To Be or Not To Be…an Artist

From the age of 4 until age 19, I was a dancer.  From the age of 17 until age 21, sketching, painting, sculpting filled my days.  I have a Bachelors degree in Art History.  At the age of 35, I designed and crafted jewelry.  I am a writer, I am an author.  I AM AN ARTIST.

It shouldn’t be any surprise that I attract artists as clients.  Painters, Landscapers, Web Designers, Graphic Artists, Art Teachers, Writers/Authors, Photographers, Fashion Designers….I could go on and on! Do you know what I appreciate about Artists?  Their passion to express life in such a way that it carries you beyond your 5 senses!  How their work awakens certain emotions within you, inspiring you to see and feel life in different ways.  I have such admiration for their bravery…uninhibited courageous acts of expression!

Have you ever watched the show “So You Think You Can Dance”? Or attended a Broadway Musical? What about watching a landscape design come to life? Such perfection in the unfolding and love of what they do.  It’s not just about what Artists do either, it’s about the gifts they bring to their audience. The Artist has great capacity for creativity and manifesting extraordinary work…where many fall short, I have found, is believing they can also manifest great financial wealth.

When I have listened to Artists speak about money and life, all too often the “starving artist” rears its head. A very old limiting belief that is symbolic of their fear of financial devastation or the belief that fame and fortune come after their death. If that is your belief, then that is exactly the life you will create for yourself.  If you want more, then stand up and claim it! Isn’t your artwork, whatever form it may be, at least as valuable if not more valuable than a Comprehensive Financial Plan analysis? Or a Trust Document drawn up by an Attorney? Shouldn’t you be compensated as well as a Medical Doctor? Afterall, you, the Artist, have the same capacity to make a significant impact in this world. All you need to do is BELIEVE it. Create positive thoughts about who you are as an Artist and what you feel you deserve.  Practice those thoughts everyday, as often as you can, and those thoughts will become new beliefs.

We are all artists of life, from the busy Entrepreneur to the stay at home mom…creating one moment to the next.  What do you want to create?  A life of financial abundance? The freedom to do whatever you want whenever you want? What exactly does that look like? Grab your canvas, your paints, your brushes…embrace the energy of the artist…be open to all possibilities, stretch your perspectives, and have some friggin fun!

  1. please read my blog, I too am contemplating that same thought. I’m 26 and I know I have all the time in the world to get there, but jeez I’m ready for someone to notice me!

    1. I checked out your blog…BEAUTIFUL!! I also left you a comment there. Your are WILDLY talented and it’s just a matter of time before you begin to experience abundance! My favorite was the City Grocery…loved it! Listen, before anyone can notice you, you must notice yourself. You must love all the talent you have, the person, the artist you are. That is emotional wealth and from there you will create physical/financial wealth. I’m here to help those that are interested…check out my “About” page for a bit of info. There’s a wonderful book that I’m going to suggest you read ASAP…”Ask and It Is Given: Learning to Manifest Your Desires” Esther & Jerry Hicks. ENJOY!!

      1. thank you so much, It’s hard to be confident because I’m not exactly sure what I’m doing but I’m working constantly and surely that will grow as the rest does. I will definitely check out the book and use you as a mentor it that’s ok. I need all the help I can get.

      2. Remember this…”Money doesn’t lead to happiness, happiness leads to money.” Follow your heart, your passion…and you will have it all!
