It has been quite some time since I have posted! Personally and professionally so much has happened in my world over the past few years that I feel now is as good a time as any to begin sharing again. And I certainly have the time, given I was recently put on a “temporary leave of absence” by my employer in response to COVID-19 (Coronavirus).
As you can imagine, I am a bit rusty in navigating the back office of ThatMoneyGirl … and I have much to share in terms of lessons learned and the power of choice!
Over the past 18 months I have survived breast cancer, another divorce, moved into a new home, watched my oldest head off to college for the first time, and learned of my father’s alzheimer’s diagnosis. And of course, there is COVID-19 and the multitude of effects being experienced by all.
Through my own experiences and watching others, what has become abundantly clear to me is that the power of choice is misunderstood and undervalued by most. It doesn’t matter if we are talking about a global pandemic, a financial crisis, a loss of income, or a change in a relationship … and it doesn’t matter if you are a doctor, a lawyer, a financial advisor, a CEO, or stay at home parent … all that matters is what you are choosing to value in the present moment.
I have seen people expressing panic and anger in the face of COVID-19 while others are finding silver linings. Why the difference? The difference is in what one is choosing to value … how one is choosing to interpret the event. If you question what I am saying, watch the social media posts carefully. People are telling you all time what they are choosing to value … and you are doing the same.
In the meantime, please give me a bit of time as I get re-acclimated to my surroundings and organize my thoughts. There is more to come!
Feel free to check out the “Meet Christine” page … I did manage to update it!
And please share ThatMoneyGirl if you feel so inspired. Somewhere on the homepage is a subscription link! Thank you!
