Choice…

“Grace is a silent breeze that enters into your essence, often to protect you from doing harm to yourself. Grace does not protect you from the consequences of your negative or foolish choices; rather, it seeks to prevent you from making those choices in the first place.”      ~Caroline Myss

Everyday we make choices…about life, about family, about our business, about money.  There’s no getting around it…life is about CHOICE and it’s the most powerful gift we have been given.  The unfortunate thing is that we tend to take this gift for granted, we become overwhelmed, and we end up creating hot messes.

Grace is yet another gift.  What is “Grace”? Grace is your inner-knowing, your inner-guidance…it is what LEADS you in the most positive ways as long as you are listening. It’s that voice inside your head that you keep stifling, the voice that makes you ask yourself “did I really hear that or am I going crazy?” No, you are not crazy…yes, you did hear what you thought you heard. Grace can be quiet, Grace can be loud. Grace is “how you feel”. If you will only listen to Grace, how you feel, you will find that your choices come with greater clarity and ease. If you would then act upon what you “hear”(feel), the life circumstances you create will be positive and full of exciting potential.

It’s simple in theory…it just takes practice. Pay attention to how you FEEL emotionally and physically when making choices and taking action. When you sit down to pay your bills, do you get sick to your stomach? Do you feel anxiety? Then STOP. In this example, your stomach and your anxiety are “Grace”, your inner-guidance telling you to pay attention. Sit back. Put your pen down. Relax.

Ask yourself this question…”What emotions do I want to feel when I’m interacting with money, like paying my bills?” “How do I want to feel when I offer my credit card to pay for a family vacation?” Do you want to feel your heart race from the fear of running out of money? Do you want to feel your stomach in knots because you are increasing your credit card balance and you’re not sure if you’ll ever be able to pay it off?”  YUCK!  NO WAY! Ofcourse you don’t, that doesn’t feel good at all…and it doesn’t feel good to you because you know it’s really not how you are meant to feel, it’s not who you really are. So…..How. Do. You. Want. To. Feel?

Here’s your homework….over the next few days try this. First, sit down in a quiet space, close your eyes, and begin to feel how you WANT to feel when you interact with money. Stay with that feeling as long as you can…take note of what the feeling is. It may be several descriptive words or it may even be a phrase. Keep it loose…keep it general…focusing only on the FEELING. Next, do this exercise every day for the next few days and observe. Keep a journal of what happens…people you meet, daily experiences, choices, etc. Last, report back to me here in a comment or email. I would love to hear what your experiences are! Let’s see how much fun we can have with this! You in?

  1. Grace is my favorite word! Each day I pray for Grace!
    My daily prayer is;
Oh Lord, please give me grace for this day
not for next week, not for tomorrow, just for this day (that is all I can handle).
Please direct my thoughts and bless them.
Please direct my work and bless it.
Please direct this things I say and do.
Please direct whatever I think and speak and
    do
So for just today, may I please have the gift of Grace that can only come from You!
The key word in you dialog was “listen”….do I really listen???????
Or do I think I still have control? Over the past couple months, I have
truly learned I have control over “nothing!!!”.
Wishing you Grace in every part of your life!!!

    1. Oh Sue, thank you so very much for sharing that prayer! I LOVE it!! And as for control…it’s more fun to allow life to unfold naturally and let go of the need to “control”. The natural unfolding is where magic shows itself!
      Thank you again Sue!! 🙂
