What does Hypnosis have to do with Finances and Life?

I wanted to share this blog post by one of my mentors and good friend, Alicia Cramer!  While working with Alicia, I have discovered that much of the work that she does is aligned with what I do in my Financial Life Planning practice…read on and enjoy!  I’ll meet you at the end…

Blog post from Alicia D.Cramer C.Ht., owner Wausau Hypnotherapy

Do You Need to Be De-Hypnotized?
Hypnosis – taboo or simply misunderstood?

When I was going through school to become a hypnotherapist, I came to understand that the majority of people are walking through life in a trance; literally in hypnosis. We are bombarded by over-stimulation (a method to induce trance/hypnosis), powerful suggestive messages from the media, told over and over from television, magazines, friends and family that the world is not a safe place, we do not have enough money, we are too old, too young, too fat, too skinny… and if that is not enough to program your mind… what stories are you telling YOURSELF about your capabilities?
Yes, it is true; we are conditioned from birth to take on other people’s beliefs, attitudes and even their health patterns. However, once we become aware of our false/limited conditioning, we can begin to change it. One of my favorite things to work on with clients in my private hypnotherapy practice is the art and science of de-hypnotizing ourselves. The process begins with acknowledging our feelings and making choices based upon what is right and good for us. For instance, how many times have you said “Yes” to someone when you knew it was too much for you to take on? Or bought the cheaper version of something because “I don’t really need the nicer one” even though it would have made you feel incredible and in reality it was not that much more expensive.
These are destructive and unloving beliefs and patterns. They are not true. They do not make us better people. In fact, when we dishonor ourselves we have less to offer. We become moody, disempowered, depressed, and unhealthy and ultimately defeat our best intentions. This type of thinking is learned – and it can be unlearned.
Some of our conditioning doesn’t even make sense. For instance, does eating every bite of food on your plate when you are already full feed the worlds starving children? And does a belief that it is more honorable to be poor (is it really more spiritual?) then rich (are all rich people really greedy?) help serve those in need? NO. NO. NO. NO…. and NO. It is time to de-hypnotize yourself and be empowered to make healthy honoring choices that allow you to feel good and be of more value to your family and society.
What if you let go of negative disempowering conditioning? What if you de-hypnotized yourself, therefore allowing yourself to be your true potential? What is possible for you? I challenge you to consider – what false beliefs you have allowed to keep you stuck, broke, unhappy or unhealthy. Then decide to take control of your own destiny. If a one-armed man can climb a mountain and a blind-deaf-mute can inspire millions of people, then you too can create an incredible life!

In my workshops and coaching, I talk about how our beliefs and attitudes about money create our behaviors, and our behaviors create our life experiences.  If the life you have today is in any way unhappy or unsatisfying, then it’s time to look at the beliefs and attitudes that you carry and how they have played out in your life.  When you explore your beliefs and attitudes about money, your business, your relationships, and your life, you create self-awareness.  When you become self-aware or conscious, you become EMPOWERED to effect change!

If you want to be debt-free or if you want to feel securely rooted and on track to achieving your goals and life vision even when the rest of the world is experiencing a financial meltdown, then you must first explore your relationship with money. From there you can create true wealth.

“if a person gets his attitude about money straight, it will help straighten out almost every other area of his life” ~Billy Graham
